What is AMLOPRES?
- AMLOPRES contains Nebivolol and Amlodipine
- Nebivolol works by exertation of dilating action on blood vessels, which contributes as well to lower blood pressure
- Amlodipine works by relaxing blood vessels thereby improving blood supply to the heart muscle which then receives more oxygen and as a result chest pain is prevented

What AMLOPRES is used for?
AMLOPRES is used in the treatment of
- raised blood pressure
- mild and moderate chronic heart failure
- certain type of chest pain called angina, (Prinz metals or variant angina)
Talk to your doctor before taking AMLOPRES If you:
- are allergic to nebivolol or amlodipine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- have low blood pressure
- have serious heart rhythm problem, severe increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis)
- have asthma or wheezing
- have untreated pheochromocytoma, a tumor located on top of the kidneys (in the adrenal glands)
- have serious liver or kidney disease
- have untreated chronic heart failure
- have poor circulation in the arms or legs, e.g. Raynauds disease or syndrome, cramp-like pains when walking
- are diabetic
- have overactive thyroid gland
- have psoriasis (a skin disease - scaly pink patches)
- have to undergo any surgery
Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines such as:
- mexiletine, moxonidine, nicardipine used for controlling the blood pressure or medicines for heart problems
- sedatives and therapies for mental illness
- phenothiazine (also used for vomiting and nausea)
- medicines for depression e.g. amitriptyline, paroxetine, fluoxetine.
- medicines used for anaesthesia during an operation
- medicines for asthma, blocked nose or certain eye disorders
- baclofen (an antispasmodic drug)
- amifostine (a protective medicine used during cancer treatment)
- ketoconazole, itraconazole used for fungal infection
- ritonavir, indinavir, nelfinavir (medicines used to treat HIV)
- rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin (antibiotics)
- tacrolimus, ciclosporine (medicine used to alter the way your immune system works)
- simvastatin (a cholesterol lowering medicine)
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
- AMLOPRES may be taken before or after the meal, with some amount of water
- The dose should be taken once daily
Treatment of raised blood pressure (hypertension)
- The usual dose is 1 tablet per day
- Elderly patients and patients with a kidney disorder will usually start with (half) tablet daily
Treatment of chronic heart failure
- Your doctor will start your treatment with (quarter) tablet per day
- This may be increased after 1-2 weeks to (half) tablet per day, then to 1 tablet per day and then to 2 tablets per day until the correct dose is reached for you
- The maximum recommended dose is 2 tablets (10mg) a day
- You will need to be under the close supervision for 2 hours by an experienced physician when you start treatment and every time your dose is increased
- You should not stop treatment abruptly as this can make your heart failure worse
- Patients with serious kidney problems should not take this medicine
If you take more AMLOPRES
- If you take more AMLOPRES , tell your doctor immediately
- The most frequent symptoms and signs of a AMLOPRES overdose are very slow heart beat, low blood pressure with possible fainting, breathlessness such as in asthma, and acute heart failure
f you forget to take AMLOPRES
- If you forget to take a dose, just take your next scheduled dose at the correct time
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking AMLOPRES
- You should always consult with your doctor before stopping AMLOPRES treatment, You should not stop AMLOPRES treatment abruptly as this can temporarily make your heart failure worse
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

- slow heartbeat or other heart complaints
- low blood pressure
- cramp-like leg pains on walking
- abnormal vision
- impotence
- feelings of depression
- digestive difficulties (dyspepsia), gas in stomach or bowel, vomiting
- skin rash, itchiness
- breathlessness such as in asthma, due to sudden cramps in the muscles around the airways (bronchospasm)
- nightmares
- worsening of psoriasis (a skin disease - scaly pink patches)
- whole-body allergic reactions, with generalized skin eruption, rapid-onset swelling, especially around the lips, eyes, or of the tongue with possible sudden difficulty breathing
- kind of skin rash notable for pale red, raised, itchy bumps
