What is AMLOPRES TRIO?
- AMLOPRES TRIO tablets contains Amlodipine Besylate, Hydrochlorothiazide and Telmisartan Tablet
- Amlodipine tablets belongs to a group of medicines called calcium antagonists
- Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics, which cause your urine output to increase, leading to a lowering of your blood pressure
- Telmisartan belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor antagonists

What AMLOPRES TRIO is used for?
AMLOPRES TRIO tablets are used to treat
- high blood pressure (hypertension)
- chest pain due to narrowing of the blood vessels of the heart muscle (angina pectoris) or the rarer form of chest pain caused by cramping of the blood vessels of the heart muscle called Prinzmetal or variant angina
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you
- are allergic to amlodipine, Hydrochlorothiazide and Telmisartan or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, or to any other calcium antagonists
- are suffering from cardiogenic shock
- are suffering from narrowing of the aortic heart valve
- suffer from heart failure after a heart attack
- suffer from chest pain at rest or with minimal effort (unstable angina pectoris)
- have severe low blood pressure (hypotension)
- have liver or kidney problems
- are elderly, your doctor may monitor you closely
- have diabetes or impaired kidney function
- have Gout
- suffer from heart trouble
- have renal artery stenosis (narrowing of the blood vessels to one or both kidneys)
- The safety of AMLOPRES TRIO in human pregnancy has not been established
- AMLOPRES TRIO has been shown to pass into breast milk in small amounts
- If you think you might be pregnant or breastfeeding or planning to get pregnant, you must tell your doctor before you take AMLOPRES TRIO tablets
- AMLOPRES TRIO Tablet has not been studied in children under the age of 6 years
- AMLOPRES TRIO Tablet should only be used for hypertension in children and adolescents from 6 years to 17 years of age for more information, talk to your doctor
Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines
- medicines that can lower blood pressure (e.g. verapamil, diltiazem)
- ketoconazole and itraconazole (antifungal medicines used to treat skin and fungal infections)
- HIV-protease-inhibitors (antiviral medicines used to treat HIV infections, e.g. ritonavir, Indinavir, Nelfinavir, Nevirapine)
- clarithromycin, erythromycin and telithromycin, rifampicin, rifabutin (antibiotics)
- nefazodone, medicine to treat depression
- Johns wort, herbal medicine for depression
- dexamethasone (corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis)
- dantrolene (infusion for severe body temperature abnormalities)
- tacrolimus (medicine used to alter the way your immune system works)
- simvastatin (cholesterol lowering medicine)
- cyclosporine (an immunosuppressant)
- phenobarbital, phenytoin and carbamazepine (medicines for epilepsy)
- sildenafil (medicine for impotence)
- lithium containing medicines to treat some types of depression
- inhibitor or aliskiren
- medicines used to treat high blood pressure or of medicines with blood pressure lowering potential (e.g. baclofen, amifostine)
- heart medicines (e.g. digoxin) or medicines to control the rhythm of your heart (e.g. quinidine, disopyramide)
- medicines used for mental disorders (e.g. thioridazine, chlorpromazine, levomepromazine)
Dosage
- Always take AMLOPRES TRIO tablets exactly as your doctor has told you
- AMLOPRES TRIO can be used before or after food
- You should take this medicine at the same time each day with a drink of water
- Do not take AMLOPRES TRIO with grapefruit juice
If you take more AMLOPRES TRIO tablets
- If you or someone else has taken too much AMLOPRES TRIO, contact your nearest hospital casualty department
If you forget to take AMLOPRES TRIO tablets
- If you forget to take a tablet,leave out that dose completely. Take your next dose at the right time
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
If you stop taking AMLOPRES TRIO tablets
- Your doctor will advise you how long to take this medicine
- Your condition may return if you stop using this medicine before you are advised
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects although not everybody gets them.

Amlodipine
- sudden wheeziness, chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing
- swelling of eyelids, face or lips
- swelling of the tongue and throat which causes great difficulty breathing
- severe skin reactions including intense skin rash, hives, reddening of the skin over your whole body, severe itching, blistering, peeling and swelling of the skin, inflammation of mucous membranes (Stevens Johnson Syndrome) toxic epidermal necrolysis or other allergic reactions
- heart attack, abnormal heart beat
- inflamed pancreas which may cause severe abdominal and back pain accompanied with feeling very unwell
Hydrochlorothiazide + Telmisartan
- increase in pressure unusual reaction, resulting in a decrease in vision and eye pain
- fluid or electrolyte imbalance include dry mouth, weakness, lethargy, drowsiness, restlessness, muscle pain or cramps, nausea (feeling sick), vomiting, tired muscles, and an abnormally fast heart rate (faster than 100 beats per minute)
- increased sensitivity of the skin to the sun with symptoms of sunburn (such as redness, itching, swelling, blistering) occurring more quickly than normal
- sepsis, swelling of skin and mucosa
Amlodipine
- headache, dizziness, sleepiness (especially at the beginning of treatment)
- palpitations (awareness of your heart beat), flushing
- abdominal pain, feeling sick(nausea)
- altered bowel habits, diarrhoea, constipation, indigestion
- tiredness, weakness
- visual disturbances, double vision
- muscle cramps
- swollen ankles
Hydrochlorothiazide + Telmisartan
- dizziness
- decreased blood potassium levels
- anxiety, fainting
- sensation of tingling, feeling of spinning (vertigo)
- fast heart beat (tachycardia)
- heart rhythm disorders
- low blood pressure
- a sudden fall in blood pressure when you stand up, shortness of breath (dyspnoea), diarrhoea,
- dry mouth, flatulence
- back pain, muscle spasm, muscle pain
- erectile dysfunction (inability to get or keep an erection)
- chest pain
- increased blood uric acid levels
- a heart attack or your angina may get worse
- inflammation of the lungs (bronchitis), activation
- sore throat, inflamed sinuses
- feeling sad (depression)
- difficulty falling asleep (insomnia)
- impaired vision
- difficulty breathing
- abdominal pain
- constipation
- bloating (dyspepsia)
- feeling sick
- inflammation of the stomach (gastritis)
- abnormal liver function
- rapid swelling of the skin and mucosa which can also lead to death (angioedema also with fatal outcome)
- redness of the skin (erythema)
- allergic reactions such as itching or rash, increased sweating, hives (urticaria), joint pain (arthralgia) and pain in extremities, muscle cramps, flu-like-illness, pain, increased levels of uric acid
- low levels of sodium, increased levels of creatinine, hepatic enzymes or creatine phosphokinase in the blood
