What ARPITOR CVD 10/75mg is used for?
- ARPITOR CVD 10/75mg is used to lower lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood
- It can also be used to reduce risk of heart disease (atherosclerosis, unstable angina) prevent the risk of clots even if your cholesterol levels are normal
- It can be given in combination with acetylsalicylic acid (a substance present in many medicines used to relieve pain and lower fever as well as to prevent blood clotting) by your doctor
Talk to your doctor before you are taking ARPITOR CVD 10/75mg, if you:
- are allergic to Atorvastatin or clopidogrel or any other ingredients of this medicine
- have a medical condition that is currently causing bleeding
- have had a previous stroke
- have kidney or liver problems
- have an under-active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism)
- have had repeated or unexplained muscle aches or pains
- have severe respiratory failure
- a recent serious injury
- have had a clot in an artery of your brain (ischemic stroke) which occurred within the last seven days
- develop a medical condition (also known as Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura or TTP)
Tell your doctor, if you are taking,
- immunosuppressants
- certain antibiotics or antifungal medicines
- some calcium channel blockers
- anti-viral, antifungals
- or have taken in the last 7 days a medicine called fusidic acid, (a medicine for bacterial infection) orally or by injection. The combination of fusidic acid and Atorvastatin can lead to serious muscle problems (rhabdomyolysis)
- warfarin (which reduces blood clotting), oral contraceptives, stiripentol (an anti-convulsant for epilepsy)
- phenazone (a painkiller)
- colchicine (used to treat gout)
- antacids (indigestion products containing aluminium or magnesium)
- st john wort for depression
- oral anticoagulants, heparin or any other injectable medicine
- used medicines usually used to treat depression
- omeprazole or esomeprazole, medicines to treat upset stomach
- anti fungals
- carbamazepine, a medicine to treat some forms of epilepsy
- moclobemide, medicine to treat depression
- repaglinide, medicine to treat diabetes
- paclitaxel, medicine to treat cancer
- Take ARPITOR CVD 10/75mg exactly as prescribed
- Your doctor will usually start you on a low dose and increase your dose slowly to control your blood sugar levels
- Do not change your dose unless told to do so by your doctor
- Swallow the medicine
- Never crush or chew this medicine
If you take more ARPITOR CVD 10/75mg
- Contact your doctor or the nearest hospital emergency department because of the increased risk of bleeding
If you forget to take ARPITOR CVD 10/75mg
- If you forget to take a dose of ARPITOR CVD 10/75mg, but remember within 12 hours of your usual time, take your tablet straightaway and then take your next tablet at the usual time
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet
If you stop taking ARPITOR CVD 10/75mg
- Do not stop the treatment unless your doctor tells you so. Contact your doctor before stopping
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Atorvastatin
- swelling of face, tongue and throat that can cause great difficulty in breathing.
- serious illness with severe peeling and swelling of the skin, blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes, genitals and fever
- Skin rash with pink-red blotches especially on palms of hands or soles of feet which may blister
- muscle weakness, tenderness or pain
- problems with unexpected or unusual bleeding or bruising, this may be suggestive of a liver complaint
Clopidogrel
- fever, signs of infection or extreme tiredness. These may be due to rare decrease of some blood cells
- signs of liver problems such as yellowing of the skin and/or the eyes (jaundice)
- bleeding which appears under the skin as red pinpoint dots and/or confusion
- swelling in the mouth or skin disorders such as rashes and itching, blisters of the skin
Atorvastatin
- inflammation of the nasal passages, pain in the throat, nose bleed
- allergic reactions
- increases in blood sugar levels (if you have diabetes continue careful monitoring of your blood sugar levels), increase in blood creatine kinase
- headache, nausea, constipation, wind, indigestion, diarrhoea
- joint pain, muscle pain and back pain
- blood test results that show your liver function can become abnormal
Clopidogrel
- bleeding may occur as bleeding in the stomach or bowels
- bruising, haematoma (unusual bleeding or bruising under the skin), nose bleed, blood in the urine
- bleeding in the eye, inside the head, the lung or the joints has also been reported
Atorvastatin
- anorexia (loss of appetite), weight gain, decreases in blood sugar levels (if you have diabetes you should continue careful monitoring of your blood sugar levels)
- having nightmares, insomnia
- dizziness, numbness or tingling in the fingers and toes, reductions of sensation to pain or touch, change in sense of taste, loss of memory
- blurred vision
- ringing in the ears and/or head
- vomiting, belching, abdominal pain upper and lower, pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas leading to stomach pain)
- hepatitis (liver inflammation)
- neck pain, muscle fatigue
- fatigue, feeling unwell, weakness, chest pain, swelling especially in the ankles (oedema), raised temperature
- urine tests that are positive for white blood cells
Clopidogrel
- headache
- stomach ulcer, vomiting, nausea, constipation
- excessive gas in stomach or intestines
- rashes, itching, dizziness, sensation of tingling and numbness
Atorvastatin
- visual disturbance
- unexpected bleeding or bruising
- cholestasis (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes)
- tendon injury
Clopidogrel
- Vertigo
- enlarged breasts in males
Atorvastatin
- an allergic reaction
- hearing loss
- gynecomastia (breast enlargement in men)
Clopidogrel
- Jaundice
- severe abdominal pain with or without back pain
- fever, breathing difficulties sometimes associated with cough
- generalized allergic reactions
- swelling in the mouth
- blisters of the skin, skin allergy
- sore mouth (stomatitis)
- decrease in blood pressure
- confusion, hallucinations
- joint pain
- muscular pain
- changes in taste of food
