What is XALACOM?
- XALACOM contains Latanoprost and Timolol
- Latanoprost belongs to a group of medicines known as prostaglandin analogues. It increases the natural outflow of fluid from the eye into the bloodstream
- Timolol belongs to a group of medicines known as beta-blockers. It slows down the production of the fluid in the eye

What XALACOM is used for?
- It is used to treat open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension
Talk to your doctor before using this medicine, if you:
- are allergic to Latanoprost and Timolol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- have or ever had respiratory problems such as asthma, severe chronic obstructive bronchitis
- have serious heart problems or heart rhythm disorders or coronary heart disease
- have poor blood circulation disease (such as Raynauds syndrome)
- have diabetes
- have over activity of the thyroid gland
- have had any kind of eye surgery in the past (including cataract surgery)
- have suffer from eye problems (such as eye pain, eye irritation, eye inflammation or blurred vision, dry eyes)
- wear contact lenses
Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines such as:
- prostaglandins, prostaglandin analogues or prostaglandin derivates
- medicines used to treat heart problems e.g. beta-blockers
- medicines used to treat in emergencies and allergic reactions e.g. epinephrine
- oral calcium channel blockers, guanethidine, antiarrhythmics, digitalis glycosides or para sympathomimetics used to treat high blood pressure
- quinidine used to treat heart conditions and some types of malaria
- fluoxetine and paroxetine used to treat depression
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
- The recommended dose is one drop once a day in each affected eye
If you use this medicines with other eye drops
- Wait at least 5 minutes between using these eye drops and using other eye drops
If you use more XALACOM
- If you use more XALACOM you may experience some minor irritation in your eye, watery eyes and turn red. Contact your doctor immediately
If you forget to use XALACOM
- If you have forgotten to use your drops apply them as soon as possible on the same day
- Do not take a double dose. Carry on with your next dose at the usual time
If you stop using XALACOM
- Do not stop using XALACOM without talking to your doctor first
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

- increasing the amount of brown pigment in the coloured part of the eye known as the iris
- eye irritation (a feeling of burning, grittiness, itching, stinging or the sensation of a foreign body in the eye) and eye pain
- developing a viral infection of the eye caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV)
- depression, memory loss, decreased sex drive, inability to sleep, nightmares
- dizziness, tingling or numbness in the skin, changes in blood flow to the brain
- worsening of symptoms of myasthenia gravis
- sudden fainting or feeling you may faint (syncope)
- changes to the eyelashes and fine hairs around the eye (increased number, length, thickness and darkening) changes to the direction of eyelash growth, swelling around the eye
- swelling at the back of the eye (macular oedema), inflammation of the surface of the eye (keratitis), fluid filled cyst within the coloured part of the eye (iris cyst), light sensitivity (photophobia), sunken eye appearance (deepening of the eye sulcus)
- inflammation of eyelid, cornea, blurred vision and detachment of the layer below the retina visual disturbances, decreased corneal sensitivity, dry eyes, corneal erosion, drooping of the upper eyelid, double vision
- headache
- redness of the eye, eye infection (conjunctivitis), blurred vision, watery eyes, swelling (inflammation) of the eyelids, irritation or disruption of the surface of the eye
- skin rashes or itching (pruritus)
- asthma, worsening of asthma, shortness of breath
- darkening of the skin around the eyes
- joint pain, muscle pain
- chest pain
- whistling/ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
- worsening of angina, awareness of heart rhythm (palpitations)
- swelling beneath the skin that can occur in areas such as the face and limbs
- difficulty swallowing or breathing, hives or itchy rash, localised and generalised rash, itchiness, severe sudden life-threatening allergic reaction
- low blood glucose levels
- depression, memory loss, difficulty sleeping (insomnia), nightmares
- fainting, stroke, reduced blood supply to the brain muscle disorder, dizziness, unusual sensations like pins and needles and headache
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
STORAGE
- Keep this medicine out of reach of children
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
- Store the unopened bottle of eye drops in a refrigerator (2-8C)
- After opening the bottle, it is not necessary to store it in a refrigerator but do not store it above 25C
- After opening do not use the eye drops in this bottle for more than 4 weeks
