WHAT IS ZEMPRED?

ZEMPRED contains methylprednisolone which belongs to a group of medicine called anti-inflammatory drug.

THERAPEUTIC USES:

What ZEMPRED is used for?It is used:

• to reduce the inflammation and allergic reaction of the skin such as redness (erythema), fluid build-up (oedema) and fluid oozing from the inflamed skin.
• to relieve the itchiness, burning sensation or pain you may feel for the treatment of skin conditions which are sensitive to corticosteroids

INTERACTIONS:

• Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

• Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor if you are not sure.
• Apply ZEMPRED thinly once per day to the affected areas of skin.
• Always keep the treatment period as short as possible. The duration of use should not exceed 12 weeks in adults and 4 weeks in children.
• If your skin dries out excessively using ZEMPRED Cream, ask your doctor about switching to one of the formulations with a higher fat content

SIDE EFFECTS:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects although not everybody gets them.

COMMON:

• A burning sensation.
• Itch and hair follicle inflammation at the site of application.

UNCOMMON:

• Dryness
• Blisters
• Redness (erythema)
• Hair follicle inflammation (folliculitis)
• Rash or tingling at the site of application.

RARE:

• acne
• skin cracks.
• skin infection.
• thinning of the skin (atrophy).
• swelling of the small blood vessels in the skin.
• swelling or irritation at the site of application skin infection producing pus.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS:

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR:

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

• are allergic (hypersensitive) to ZEMPRED or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• have pre-existing eczema or rash has become infected.
• are affected by a skin inflammation that is red/rosy in colour (rosacea), ulcers, inflamed diseases of the sebaceous glands (acne vulgaris) or skin folds, groin or under the arm pits (intertrigo acne), or skin diseases accompanied by a thinning of the skin (atrophic skin diseases).
• have skin inflammation in the upper lip and chin (perioral dermatitis).
• have bacterial, viral or fungal skin infections (unless treated accordingly with a special medicine)

PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING:

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine.

CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS:

• ZEMPRED is not recommended for use in children under 4 months of age, due to a lack of data on safety.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES:

• No effects on the ability to drive or use machines have been seen with ZEMPRED.

STORAGE:

• Keep out of reach of children.
• Store at room temperature (15-25C).
• Protect from excess heat and light.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date.
