What ZIPRA is used for?

• ZIPRA is used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia and acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder marked by extremely high or irritable mood, increased energy, activity, and restlessness, racing thoughts or talking very fast, easily distracted or little need for sleep
• ZIPRA can also be used as maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder when added to lithium or valproate

Talk to your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any of the following medicines:

• anti-arrhythmic called as quinidine, dofetilide and sotalol
• medicines such as droperidol, levomethadyl acetate
• antipsychotics such as pimozide, thioridazine, mesoridazine, chlorpromazine
• certain antibiotics such as sparfloxacin, gatifloxacin, pentamidine and moxifloxacin
• mefloquine, halofantrine used to treat malaria
• chemotherapeutic agents such as arsenic trioxide, tacrolimus
• dolasetron mesylate used to treat nausea after chemotherapy treatment
• medicines used to lower the levels of cholesterol such as probucol

• Take ZIPRA only as directed by your doctor
• Swallow the capsules whole
• Take ZIPRA capsule with food
• It is best to take ZIPRA at the same time each day

If you take more ZIPRA

• If you take more capsules, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital immediately

If you forget to take ZIPRA

• Take it as soon as remember
• Do not double the dose to make up for the forgotten dose

If you stop taking ZIPRA

• Do not change your dose or stop taking your medicine without your doctor’s approval
